Macadamia integrifolia is an evergreen tropical or tender perennial in the Proteaceae family. Its native range is from southeast Queensland to northeast South Wales. Familiar names include Smoothshell Macadamia Nut Tree, bush nut, Queensland nut, and nut oak. It grows wild in the rainforests in Queensland and New South Wales, Australia. It can grow to around 20 feet tall and wide with a grayish-brown trunk. The leaves are relatively large, around 6-8 inches long and 3-4 inches wide. They are smooth and glossy with wavy leaf margins. The tiny fragrant flowers are usually white but may be pink as well. The fruits follow the flowers months later, producing a woody nut around 1-1.5 inches in diameter. It prefers to grow in full sun with little water needs. Zones 9-11
