When necessary, fertilize in the spring with a low nitrogen fertilizer. Cherry trees do not like a lot of nitrogen.
Germination Procedure: Plant in fall for overwintering and spring sprouts. Otherwise, apply 4 months of cold stratification to simulate the winter season. Pro-tip: Snip the end of the seed stones at the very end to create an opening for the emerging seedling. Doing so saves a lot of time that it would have taken for the stone to soften and crack on it's own. Finally, sow seed stones 1/2-inch deep in med-warm temperatures.
